Nobuo Uematsu, renowned composer, to appear at Anime Boston 2010

We are pleased to announce that Nobuo Uematsu will appear for Anime Boston 2010, April 2-4th at the Hynes Convention Center and Sheraton Hotel Boston.

Now the founder of SMILE PLEASE and Dog Ear Records, Uematsu is known for composing many renowned works from Final Fantasy, Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon as well as from the Guinsaga anime.

Video Game Orchestra to perform at Anime Boston 2010

Video Game Orchestra is a Boston based orchestra that performs contemporary arrangements of video game music with an orchestra, choir, and a rock band.

Focusing on showcasing interactive media compositions, VGO is dedicated to provide access and raise awareness of orchestral video game-related compositions. Comprised of a 45-piece symphony, a 40-piece choir, and a 5-piece rock band, the regional and international award-winning musicians come from over 20 countries. This multi-cultural diversity background contributes to the unique sonic signature of VGO.

Unlike last year, VGO will be appearing with its full 90-person ensemble.

Comicopia: Saturday, March 20th, 1-5pm

Anime Boston announces its second round of guests

February 2, 2010 - Tuan

Anime Boston, the largest anime convention in New England, announced its second round of guests today. Voice actors Josh Grelle, Clarine Harp, J. Michael Tatum and Chris Smith as well as artists Bob and Emily DeJesus will be arriving at the Hynes Convention Center, Boston Mass. on April 2-4th.

Themes for AB 2010’s Cosplay Game Events

Themes for AB 2010’s Cosplay Game Events have been announced. All cosplaying attendees are welcome to apply to participate in any or all of these dramatic, semi-scripted performances – applications are open until March 1st. You can find all Cosplay Games under the Masquerade and Cosplay page.

Cosplay Chess Theme – Past vs. Future!

Cosplot Theme – Mad Science & Time Travel.

Anime Dating Game will continue to have two sessions, the Main session and the Late Night 18+ Yaoi/Yuri session.

Catch the Barrel Teams – Past vs. Present vs. Future, all against the forces of Chaos! (No application necessary)

Masquerade and Hall Cosplay Contest Registration Date Change

The registration date for the Masquerade and Hall Cosplay Contest has been moved to February 15th, 2010. Please look for registration forms for both competitions on this date.

Registration Update

This is just a reminder that today is the last day for the $40 rate. At midnight the rate will become $45 per person, $35 for those under 13. The $45 rate will remain until pre-reg closes in March.

Please note that with the price hike Group Discounts will become available. Information will be posted soon, but please remember that Group Discounts are for School/Educational groups or clubs only. We accept check only, as all group discounts are processed via mail.

For those still waiting for Confirmation emails for in-person registration, please note we are in the processing stage and expect completion by the end of the weekend.

Lastly, the on-site registration hours for the convention will be as follows:

Anime Boston announces its first round of guests

Anime Boston, the largest anime convention in New England, announced its first round of guests today. Brothers Greg and Christopher Ayres as well as industry guest Tom Wayland will be returning to the Hynes Convention Center, Boston Mass. on April 2-4th.

Online Pre-Registration is now up!

You can now pre-register for Anime Boston 2010!

Please note, there are a lot of changes to the system this year so make sure you read everything as you go through the registration process.

I would also like to note that due to unexpected delays in getting pre-registration up earlier, we have extended the $40 pay period deadline to January 15th.

For anyone who registered at an in-person event, you will receive an email soon. We are in the process of preparing the data and uploading it to the new system. Keep on a eye on this page to see if you should have received your confirmation email.

New Anime Boston Podcasts

Some of you may have already noticed the Anime Boston Podcast RSS feed was updated back in September. Well we've finally gotten around to making a new Podcast webpage and have released a second episode in the new version of the Anime Boston Podcast.

You can listen live on the website, the rss feed has also been updated (Although it might not show up on iTunes if it hasn't been pinged yet).

We hope to release a new podcast about every other month, and maybe, just maybe, there might be a live podcast in the works. We'll keep you posted.

Hotel Reservation Blocks Now Available

Anime Boston's official hotel is the Sheraton Boston Hotel, connected to the Hynes Convention Center. Reservations in the Social Block and Quiet Block are now available through the links on the Hotel Information Page.

Please read the page thoroughly before booking your room as some of the hotel policies have changed this year. The reservation cut off date is March 1, 2010.
